Tesla Model S Plaid beats Porsche to become fastest EV around the Nurburgring

The Tesla Model S Plaid has secured the record for the fastest electric production car at the Nurburgring. A Model S Plaid equipped with the Track package set a lap time of 7 min 25.231 seconds beating the previous record set by the Porsche Taycan Turbo S.

Back in 2021, the Model S completed a lap of the Nordschleife in 7 min 35.579 seconds. However, this record didn’t stand for long. Porsche came along and beat Tesla’s time by 2 seconds to secure the crown. Now, the American EV maker has gone back to the track with an upgraded version of the Model S and has shaved 8 seconds off Porsche’s time.

According to Tesla, the Track Package is designed for the ultimate track experience. It includes forged aluminium wheels, Goodyear Supercar 3R tires and brake fluid, new carbon-silicon carbide brake rotors and one-piece forged calipers with high-performance pads.
