BMW is marking the 50th anniversary of its ‘M’ division with rather special M4. It’s called the BMW M4 CSL, and here are the first leaked images of the car.
‘CSL’ is BMW speak for “Coupe Sport Lightweight”. It has been a moniker reserved for the brand’s most track-focused road cars. Like the legendary M3 CSL, the new model is lighter and pack a punch over the standard M4. It features a lot of carbon fiber components that have helped reduce the overall weight by 100 kg.
The BMW M4 CSL also comes with a distinct exterior. The car still has the large kidney grille, while the bumpers get an additional splitter element with stylish end plates. The rear boasts of a large diffuser and the most prominent feature of the car – it’s ducktail spoiler. Inside, the M4 CSL comes with carbon bucket seats with lots of leather and Alcantara.
The M4 CSL is powered by a 3.0-liter straight-6 engine that is said to have been tuned to 550 hp. The extra punch and reduced weight should make the M4 CSL pretty handy on a racetrack.
Rumours suggest, BMW is building just 1000 examples of the M4 CSL, with a price tag of €170,000!
