First Spy Images of the McLaren 600LT are out

Here are the first McLaren 600LT spy images.

Yesterday, McLaren released a teaser of its upcoming Long Tail model based on the 570S. While, we know that the new supercar will be a track-focused Sports Series model, McLaren is yet to officially announce its name. Reports suggest that it will be called 600LT.

Now, new spy images have surfaced on social media that reveal some of the exterior details of the new car. The McLaren 600LT has a more aggressive front end with a low splitter featuring end plates to channel air around the car. The headlights and bonnet looks stock though. The car has more pronounced side skirts with an additional vent, which might be a cooling duct for the rear brakes.

The rear of the 600LT features a fixed spoiler and new rear bumper with two extra vents between the tail lights. The diffuser on the car is substantially larger than what you get on the standard 570S. More importantly, the twin exhausts are now placed on the engine cover and look quite similar to the Porsche 918 Spyder’s setup.

The McLaren 600LT is expected to be lighter and more focused than the rest of the Sports Series models. The test mule is sporting lightweight 10-spoke alloy wheels from McLaren’s parts catalog, which would be just one of the many weight saving measures adopted by the carmaker.

McLaren is yet to provide details about the powertrain, however we expect the 600LT to be slightly more powerful than the stock car. A 30 hp gain over the standard model seems likely and hence the name – 600LT. That said, all this is pure speculation at this moment.
