XCAR Previews the new 2016 BMW M2: Video

2016 BMW M2

BMW will be celebrating its 100th anniversary next year and how can there be a better way to mark a centenary than by the launch of the 2016 BMW M2. XCAR got up close and personal with the all-new BMW M2 to see how it shakes up the segment.

The 2016 BMW M2 is the successor to the frankly awesome 1M Coupe, which means it has big responsibility on it shoulders- pleasing the fans. Based on the 2-Series, the BMW M2 is a pumped up version of the M235i coupe. Under the bonnet is a 3.0-liter, 6-cylinder engine with upwards of 364 hp and 343 lb-ft. Good thing is that, BMW is offering a conventional manual transmission on the M2, apart from a dual-clutch automatic.

Like with all M-cars, the BMW M2 is a rear-wheel drive and does come with electronics to aid some showboating. Customers get a limited choice of colors and just one interior trim option to choose from. 19-inch wheels are standard fitment.

Tell us what you think about the new BMW M2 in the comments section below. Do you think we have a future classic in the making?
