World’s first Nitrous Chevrolet Corvette C8 Z06; posts sub 9 sec 1/4th mile time

Emelia Harford has done some crazy mods on her Chevrolet Corvette Z06. The orange and white car is called as Nemo by fans of the built. But, this time around, she has gone all out and installed a nitrous kit in the ‘Vette.

Nitrous Corvette Z06 : Sub 9 second 1/4th mile time

The runs took place at the Famoso Bakersfield Raceway. Located in McFarland, California, Hartford took her ride there for some testing and tuning. This is not just a fast Corvette Z06 but also possibly the first Nitrous equipped one as well.

The aim is to beat the current Corvette world record of 9.98 seconds. In the first few runs, Hartford ensured there were no errors or any check engine lights.

In the next run, nitrous was used, and the Corvette Z06 clocked a time of 9.98 seconds ET with a top speed of 141 mph. While still shy of the world record by a few tenths of a seconds, it is possible that the nitrous Corvette Z06 might break it after some more tuning.

Corvette E-Ray : In the news

Meanwhile, the series production of the much anticipated 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray is yet to commence. That said, the American carmaker has just concluded the auction for the first retail unit. All proceeds of the amount will be donated. NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick’s bid for the car at US$ 1.5 million is the highest. Hence, at hammer down, the owner of the Hendrick Motorsports managed to secure the VIN no 001.

The E-Ray is the first Corvette to come with a hybrid powertrain. This includes the 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 motor with an electric motor. The total output of the system is 665 HP. Additionally, E-Ray will also boast an all-wheel-drive system. This feature is also a new addition for the Corvette brand. The American carmaker has claimed a 0-60 mph time of 2.5 seconds.
