VIDEO: Mercedes-AMG GT R Spotted at the Nurburgring

The Mercedes-AMG GT R is the fastest, track-focused model in the AMG GT line-up. The high performance sports car was spotted during the industry pool session at the Nurburgring recently. Looks like the boys at Mercedes-AMG are still fine tuning the car before the first customer cars are delivered.

The Mercedes-AMG GT R is based on the AMG GT which boasts a 4.0-liter V8 bi-turbo engine at the front and rear-wheel drive. In the AMG GT R, overall output is up from 503 hp in the GT S to 577 hp, thanks to a combination of revised turbos, a new exhaust and some software tuning. It is also much lighter than its siblings. Moreover, the extra downforce provided by the updated aerodynamics package makes it pretty handy around a twisty course like the Nurburgring.
