VIDEO: McLaren Sabre prototype looks and sounds insane
We’ve already seen spy shots and patent images of the McLaren Sabre (BC-03). Now, here are a couple of short videos of the car roaring down a racetrack.
The video appears to have been shot during the private unveiling of the Sabre which took place at Thermal Raceway in California. The leaked images of the prototype that we had shared back in October were from the same event.
In the first video, you can see the McLaren Sabre firing up its engine and pulling out of the paddock. In this angle, you can clearly see the double planes of the rear wing and the shark fin. The tail lamp setup on the Sabre is similar to modern LMP1 race cars.
In the second video, you can hear the Sabre’s engine at full chat as it zooms past the camera.
Details about the McLaren Sabre’s powertrain are scarce, but rumors suggest that it might be powered by a twin-turbo V8 hybrid producing around 1100 hp. It will be a special edition model with only 15 cars being produced.
