Video: Lando Norris’ Ferrari F40 crashes near Monaco

A Ferrari F40 owned by McLaren Formula 1 driver Lando Norris has crashed somewhere near Monaco. This is the second accident involving an F40 after a service technician crashed one in the UK a few days back.

According to social media reports, the Ferrari F40 registered as “865Q” was being driven by one of Lando’s friends, whose identity is unknown. The video shows the F40 spinning out and hitting a roadside barrier.

The F40 appears to have sustained minor damage to the rear end. It’s mostly cosmetic, however, the car might need a new rear bumper, which for a car like the F40, won’t come cheap.

Like most Ferrari F40 crashes we’ve seen so far this one also seems like a case of over-ambitious throttle application. The twin turbos on the 3.0-liter V8 engine are known to spool up aggressively, increasing the chance of the rear wheels losing traction.

A bootful of throttle in a F40 delivers 471 hp and 426 lb-ft of torque to the rear axle. The engine is bolted to a 5-speed manual transmission.
