McLaren 570S-Porsche 911 Turbo S-Top Gear-drag race

VIDEO: Cheapest McLaren is faster than a Porsche 911 Turbo S

Top Gear pitted four of the finest supercars against each other in a drag race. The result was rather surprising. These were the contenders- Audi R8 V10 Plus, Nissan GT-R, McLaren 570S and Porsche 911 Turbo S. Three of the four cars here have all-wheel drive. Also, three of the four cars have twin-turbos.

The Porsche 911 Turbo S with its engine on the rear axle, all-wheel drive and a slick PDK is quickest off the line. It beat the old king of standing starts- the GT-R by 0.2 sec to 60 mph. The McLaren was the slowest registering 3.1 sec to 60 mph.

From then on, things got a bit weird. When the McLaren 570S’ turbos came on full boost, it flew past the Audi and the Nissan. The cheapest McLaren went on to beat the mighty Turbo S to the line. The figures show that the 570S hit 100 mph in 6.0 sec flat compared to the Porsche which was 0.2 sec slower.

This drag race proves that the Nissan GT-R is no longer the quickest accelerating car in its segment. The Japanese Godzilla is also getting a bit old to rival the recent lot of supercars. Also, the naturally aspirated V10 engine in the Audi was clearly no match against twin-turbo Porsche and McLaren.
