VIDEO: Aston Martin Vantage GT8 Laps Nurburgring in 7min 50sec

Aston Martin will soon bid farewell to the Vantage which has been production since 2005. The British marque decided to build one last special edition before it went out of production. It’s called the Vantage GT8 and Sport Auto has been driving it.

Christian Gebhardt took the Vantage GT8 out on the Nurburgring Nordschleife to find out how quick the track-focused Vantage really was.

Based on the V8 S, the Vantage GT8 was launched in April last year. It takes inspiration from the V8 Vantage GTE race car, the limited edition model features revised aerodynamics and the V8 engine produces slightly more performance than in the standard car.

The 4.7-liter unit makes 440 hp and is mated to a 7-speed automated manual transmission. 0-60 mph is achieved in 4.4 sec and it can reach a top speed of 190 mph.

Sadly though, however special GT8 might be, it fails to set a respectable time around the Nordschleife. It clocked 7 min 50 sec which is slower than Golf GTI and is on par with the Honda Civic Type R. Not the kind of performance yo would expect from a $200,000+ sports car.
