UK registered McLaren Artura wrecked in Spain

A blue McLaren Artura with UK license plates has crashed in Spain. It is believed to be a press car and was probably the one that was presented at the Goodwood Festival of Speed earlier this year.

While details are still awaited, it seems like no one was injured in the accident. Looking at the images, it appears to be a head-on collision involving a BMW 3 Series. Either of the two cars may have jumped the median causing the accident.

The Artura is McLaren’s first series production hybrid model. At its heart is a 3.0-liter, twin-turbo V6 engine that churns out 577 hp and 431 lb-ft of torque. It is coupled with an electric motor that delivers an additional 97 hp for a combined output of 671 hp and 531 lb-ft. There is a 7.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that offers a maximum range of 19 miles in pure electric mode. The car comes with a new 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and an e-differential.
