Tuner to Offer Manual Transmission for the 2020 Toyota GR Supra
European Auto Group – a tuning shop based in Texas – will be offering 6-speed manual transmission conversions for the 2020 Toyota GR Supra soon.
Toyota has no plans as of now to launch the 2020 GR Supra with a manual transmission. Even a recent update from the chief engineer spoke of hotter versions with more power and performance, but not of a manual gearbox variant. The manufacturer seems to be inclined to stick with the 8-speed automatic transmission.
But for manual transmission enthusiasts, there is an alternative. A Texas-based tuning shop – European Auto Group (EAG) – has started taking customer deposits for converting the new-gen Supra to a manual gearbox sports car.
The owner of European Auto Group, Art Bartosik revealed this piece of good news in an interview with CarBuzz. Using OEM parts from BMW, the tuning shop will carry out the conversion to manual transmission if you are willing to part with $12,000. Pre-orders are now open at $6,000 and the manual swap will take anything between 30 to 45 days to complete.
Sourcing components for the conversion isn’t a big deal as there are BMW cars out there which come with B58 engines, similar to the one powering the 2020 GR Supra and the Z4.
EAG will be performing a power upgrade too which will kick the power output to 420-430 hp. The Texas tuner has partnered with ProTuning Freaks, a Canada-based BMW tuner to offer the boost in power to customers.
