Toyota’s GR GT3 spotted testing at Fuji Speedway
Toyota had showcased the GR GT3 concept sometime back. This car has taken the enthusiast community by surprise as it is not based on any production car. That said, we now have images and a short video of the car under test at the Fuji Speedway in Japan.
More Details on Toyota’s GR GT3
Development of the car is under full swing. While more details are awaited, we can see how the car looks despite the camouflage. The short video shows the GR GT3 going through a corner.
Hello Lexus / Toyota GT3! Whilst no name has been been given to the car yet, it’s been spotted testing at Fuji Speedway! The GR GT3 comes with a long hood, sharp character lines and the over all design is very close to the concept. The sports car comes with many aero bits like a large rear wing and other elements to create the maximum downforce possible.
The body kit of the car is pretty sober when compared to the sister brand Lexus’ RC F GT3. This racing car comes with a 5.8-litre V8 motor. In terms of engine sound, both the test car and the RC F GT3 bear similarities. This makes us believe that the Toyota GR GT3 could come with the same powertrain.
Road-legal Toyota GR GT3 version?
While the track-only racing car is good, buyers will be keen if they can get their hands on a road-legal version. Hence it is under consideration to get a road version of this car.
According to a media report, the road-legal version could come with a Lexus badge. It is expected to retail in the North American market. The brand could position this roadster as a flagship model for performance enthusiasts.
That said, there has been no information with regards to the timeline of the GR GT3’s racing debut or its road-legal launch.
