Toyota Supra Mk3 and Mk4 parts Production will be Restarted
Good news, gents! Toyota Gazoo Racing will put many spare parts of the Supra Mk3 and Mk4 back into production.
At a recent event held in Japan to celebrate the launch of the 2020 Toyota GR Supra, Toyota Gazoo Racing president Shigeki Tomoyama announced that the company will be putting many spare parts of the Supra Mk3 and Mk4 into production. While he hasn’t shared the list of components which will be back on the racks, it’s safe to assume that the company will be considering the current requirements in the previous-gen Supra parts market.
Toyota’s plan to restart production of parts for their most popular sports car of all time is much similar to how Nissan brought back numerous components for the previous-gen Skyline Skyline GT-R – R32, R33, and R34 generations. Mazda and Honda too have been doing the same for the old-gen Miata and the first-gen NSX respectively.
The interest in the Supra brand has reignited after the debut of the 2020 Toyota GR Supra. We have also seen a huge spike in the winning bids for old-generation Supras. The “GR Heritage Parts Project” will be giving more Mk3 and Mk4 cars a new lease of life. It will also lead to more happy owners who have always been loyal to the A70 and A80 models.
While the initiative will be exercised in Japan initially, it’s still a great piece of news as the “GR Heritage Parts Project” will open up the (expensive) possibility of ordering “overnight parts from Japan”.
That’s a line straight out of “The Fast and the Furious”.
