The Stig Drives the New Ford Focus RS: Video

The Stig drives the new Ford Focus RS

The Stig from Top Gear is among the first people to have driven the new Ford Focus RS. Ben Collins, who we all know was Top Gear’s tame racing driver got behind the wheel of the much awaited hot hatchback and talks us through the various drive modes in the following video.

The new Ford Focus RS uses a 2.3-liter 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine which makes 350 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. It has all-wheel drive and a unique front differential that allows the car to drift. There are four different driving modes that setup the car depending on mood of the driver- Normal, Sport, Race, Drift.

In ‘Normal’ mode the Focus RS behaves like any family hatchback- quiet and comfortable. In ‘Sport’ mode the suspension stiffens and the throttle response gets better. ‘Race’ mode is designed for the track. That when the RS gets a little bit naughty. While, ‘Drift’ mode makes you feel like Ken Block. In this setting, the Focus RS can drift like a hooligan. Apparently, the steering feels lighter and the AWD system is setup in such a way that the car slides around with grace.
