Street-legal Maserati MC20 GT2 to debut at Pebble Beach
Back in May, we reported that Maserati was planning to debut a street-legal version of the MC20 GT2 race car. The carmaker has now confirmed that a “super sports car” will indeed be unveiled during the Monterey Car Week. More specifically, it will be presented at The Quail.
Maserati has shared a teaser image of the new car, revealing some interesting details inspired by the MC20 GT2 racer. It has an exposed carbon front splitter, carbon A-pillars and louvres on the front fenders. It could also get beefier brakes and a sporty set of alloy wheels.
The aerodynamics package on the road version will certainly be less extreme compared to the GT2. Having said that, we can expect to see a large rear wing, among other aero elements.
The interior, too, will be unlike the race car and more road-oriented. It might get body-hugging bucket seats with racing harnesses, Alcantara upholstery and an overall stripped-out interior.
The Stradale version is likely to be powered by the same 3.0-liter, twin-turbo V6 as the standard MC20. It produces 621 hp @ 7500 rpm and 538 lb-ft of torque all the way from 3000 rpm. It might get a stiffer, more track-focused suspension setup and upgraded brakes.
