Street-legal Audi R8 GT2 looks and sounds wild in spy video

Audi is all set to phase out the R8 supercar. However, the German carmaker plans to build a limited production, street-legal R8 LMS GT2, before it goes out of production.

Last week, the first images of the R8 GT2 track-focused road car had surfaced online. The car was spotted testing at the Nurburgring. Now, here’s a spy video that shows the hardcore R8 lapping the Nordschleife during one of its test runs.

The Audi R8 LMS GT2 is being developed by the Audi Scherer Sport group in collaboration with Abt-Sportsline. The car not only looks hardcore but sounds quite wild too. It is expected to be powered by a 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine that could be tuned for more performance.

Besides the upgraded powertrain, the R8 LMS GT2 with number plates will feature an extreme aero kit designed to provide optimal downforce on the racetrack.
