Stellantis might sell Maserati as losses mount
Stellantis recently announced that it would not hesitate to axe underperforming brands, and the latest reports suggest that Maserati is among the front-runners.
Natalie Knight, CFO of Stellantis, has hinted that the Italian sports car brand could be put up for sale in the future. “There could be some point in the future when we look at what’s the best home for [Maserati],” she said.
Maserati sold 6500 cars in the first half of 2024. That’s a drop of over 50% compared to the same period last year when the carmaker registered sales of 15,300 units.
Maserati is set to roll out a pure-electric version of the MC20. However, apart from that, the brand will not have any new models in the pipeline until 2027. So, it’s unlikely that a sales revival will happen anytime soon.
