Sibling Rivalry: McLaren 600LT battles McLaren Senna in a Drag Race
In another incident of sibling rivalry, the McLaren 600LT takes on the mighty McLaren Senna. You don’t need a crystal globe to predict the result of this drag race.
Let’s address the elephant in the room first. What you are about to see below is not a quarter mile drag race. It’s more of a 1,000-meter drag race featuring two of the most popular machines from the British carmaker – the McLaren 600LT and the McLaren Senna.
The Senna, of course, is the more hardcore machine of the two and has all the bells and whistles at its disposal to decimate the 600LT. And that’s exactly what it does in this video uploaded by Motorsport Magazine’s YouTube channel. Were you guys looking forward to seeing something similar to the Huracan vs Aventador SVJ drag race video from a few days ago? Sorry to disappoint on that regard as Goliath has beaten David in this bout.
You can see the Senna shooting off the start line like a roadrunner and as the 600LT driver watches helplessly with his right foot deep in the footwell, the hardcore big brother gets busy with increasing the distance between both cars.
So what makes the Senna almost vanish from the scene as the lights turn green? A 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 789 hp of power and 590 lb-ft of torque empowers the 1,374 kg supercar to go from 0 to 62 mph in 2.8 seconds. Top speed is 208 mph. Obviously, all these figures are far superior to those printed in the McLaren 600 LT brochure.
Lighter, quicker, faster and packing a more powerful engine, the McLaren Senna was made for ruling race tracks of all kinds, as long as they are well-paved like this particular strip.
