Scott Speed’s wild Subaru WRX Project Midnight coming to Goodwood

Subaru Motorsports USA has built a new Time Attack car that will take part in the Goodwood Hill Climb later this weekend. Dubbed, ‘WRX Project Midnight, it will be piloted by ex-F1 and rallycross champion Scott Speed.

The Subaru WRX Project Midnight is the successor to the Airslayer Gymkhana car, which was based on the 2020 WRX STI. While the latter was designed to go sideways, Project Midnight is built for “pure tarmac speed”.

The WRX Project Midnight has an ultra-wide body with a massive wing at the back. The carbon fibre body and lightweight chassis make it 1,000 lbs lighter than the standard WRX. The suspension geometry is set up for the tarmac and the car rides on 18-inch OZ Racing magnesium wheels wrapped in Yokohama Advan slick tires.

Under the bonnet of the WRX Project Midnight lies a 2.0-liter turbocharged flat-4 engine tuned to produce 670 hp and 680 lb-ft and revs 9,500 rpm.
