Porsche Boxster Spyder GT4: Yes We Can!

Porsche Boxster Spyder

When Porsche build a lightweight, track-focused sports car, it usually ends up being so expensive that most of the fans of the brand end up just dreaming about it. So, when the Cayman GT4 came along, it gave hope to the millions who love a responsive mid-engine sports car that can be driven by thoughts. The Cayman GT4 isn’t as pricey as the full-blown 911 GT3, but is a product of the GT division that’s more affordable and provides similar levels of automotive high. So, if a GT4 coupe is possible, why not a convertible? Hence, the Porsche Boxster Spyder GT4.

Porsche is seriously considering a Boxster Spyder GT4 to join the limited edition Cayman GT4, sharing the same underpinnings. That does not sounds like a difficult engineering challenge. In fact, a Boxster without the Spyder top has already been spotted believed to be a GT4 variant. Therefore, if Porsche goes on to build a Boxster Spyder GT4, then we can expect a GT3-derived front suspension, a 386 hp, 3.8-liter flat-six engine from a Carrera S and reduced kerb weight.

According to Porsche, they were overwhelmed by the success of the Cayman GT4 and that’s when they thought a Boxster Spyder GT4 might work. All said, it is good news for Porsche enthusiasts as a new GT4 model seems to be quite possible.
