Porsche 911 GT3 Touring Pack leaked before Frankfurt reveal
It had long been rumored that Porsche has been working on a less hardcore version of the 911 GT3, prototype for which was spied multiple times on the roads near Stuttgart. The car suffixed as ‘touring package’ has now leaked on the internet with some interesting details.
The wingless GT3 likely to be a limited edition car, will come with full 500 hp, instead of a de-tuned version of the GT3’s flat-six, as early rumors suggested. The 911 GT3 Touring Package will come with full black leather interior as standard instead of alcantara. Option for a sport-chrono package will be available along with ceramic brakes and other GT3 options. Visible in the pictures are rear seats that are not available on the GT3. This is to be expected since the car is named the ‘Touring package’. Also, the car will top out at 196 mph which is a tad less than the GT3’s 199 mph top speed.
Instead of the big rear wing, the GT3 Touring Package will come with Carrera style spoilers with revised rear grill. Painted alloy wheels in aluminium satin gloss will be part of the standard aesthetics package.
But the most important part of the latest rumor mill is that the car will be available only with a manual gearbox, leaving us to wonder how it would affect the exclusivity of the 911 R. Although the details are still not confirmed, with the Frankfurt Motor Show just around the corner, we will find out soon enough.
