Porsche 718 Spyder GT4 RS leaked just hours ahead of debut

The first image of the Porsche 718 Spyder GT4 RS has leaked online. We get our first glimpse of what is said to be the last petrol-powered 718 Spyder courtesy of a magazine scan.

As expected the 718 Spyder GT4 RS looks similar to its coupe version, the Cayman GT4 RS. The car gets a carbon bonnet with NACA ducts and a sporty front bumper with an extended splitter element. Being the hot version, it also gets Porsche’s centre-locking wheels.

The track-focused 718 Spyder will share its powertrain with the coupe. It’s the same 4.0-liter flat-six motor from the 911 GT3, which puts out 493 hp and 331 lb-ft of torque. It will be mated to a 7-speed PDK and won’t be offered with a manual transmission.

The 718 Spyder GT4 RS will also receive the same chassis upgrades as the coupe. These include a lowered ride height courtesy of Bilstein dampers and stiffer springs all around. The car will also feature stiffer anti-roll bars and 20-inch centre-lock wheels.

Porsche is expected to take the wraps off the 718 Spyder GT4 RS in a few hours from now. It will be produced in limited numbers and is expected to cost more than the 718 Cayman GT4 RS.
