Porsche 718 Boxster & Cayman now with 4.0L Flat-6 engine

Finally, we can have the 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman with a naturally aspirated, flat-6 engine.

The biggest talking point of the 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman was their engine. The 2.5-liter, turbocharged 4-cylinder was just too un-Porsche. It seems, Porsche has heard the commotion.

The 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman are now available in GTS 4.0 trim. It is powered by a 4.0-liter, flat-6 engine from the Spyder and GT4 models. The slightly de-tuned engine produces 394 hp and 309 lb-ft of torque and it’s paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. Porsche claims a 0-60 mph time of 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 182 mph.

In terms of equipment, the GTS 4.0 variants come equipped with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV), mechanical limited-slip differential and Sport Chrono Package as standard. The ride height has also being lowered by a millimeter. While 20-inch light alloy wheels are standard, ceramic brakes will be offered as an option.

That said, if you want to have fun on a budget, Porsche also offers the 718 Boxster T and 718 Cayman T.
