Pagani Huayra R to be unveiled on November 12
Jaws will drop on November 12, as Pagani unveils the new Huayra R.
Horacio Pagani has confirmed that a new hardcore version of the Huayra will be presented at the 2020 Autostyle Design Competition. Horacio has also revealed that project has been in the works since 2019. It will be powered by a “new aspirated engine” developed specifically for the Huayra R.
Like the Zonda R, this new version of the Huayra could be built just for the racetrack and may not be road legal. All we can see in this teaser image is the name of the car engraved onto the wheel rims. But, it could feature the most extreme aerodynamics package we’ve ever seen on a Huayra. So, expect to see a more aggressive front end with a massive rear spoiler producing even more downforce than the Huayra BC.
Now, we don’t know what the new engine will be like. If you look at one of the most extreme versions of the Huayra that is offered right now, it uses a 6.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V12 that pumps out 791 hp and 775 lb-ft of torque. Therefore, we wouldn’t be surprised if the new engine makes over 800 hp.
Assuming that the Pagani Huayra R will be a track car just like its predecessor, it will lock horns with the Lamborghini Essenza SCV12.
PS: A Pagani spokesperson has termed these reports as “fake news”. Well, we’re not sure how this can be fake news when Horacio Pagani himself talks about the “genesis of the Huayra R” in the video. Of course, they might not reveal the actual car. It could be an early sketch, a concept or something else. But, at the end of the day, an official announcement is expected on November 12.
