Pagani hasn’t abandoned the idea of electric hypercars

Pagani has been exploring the idea of electric hypercars for more than five years. It’s an ongoing project, which the Italian supercar maker, hasn’t abandoned yet.

Marketing director Christopher Pagani said, “We loved working on the electric car, and we still are working on this project, so it’s not a closed chapter for us.”

Although Pagani acknowledged the potential of electric hypercars, it was tough to convince Horacio, who was more in favour of V12 hypercars. “We still think it’s a fun car, a fun project to build,” Christopher said. But, after consulting with its dealer partners, the company realized there was no interest in a fully-electric Pagani hypercar.

“For us, the performance is [in] the vehicle dynamics. It’s not the amount of horsepower. It’s not the top speed,” Christopher said.

Pagani confirmed that while a lot of work has been done on the electric hypercar project, it hasn’t materialized into a working prototype. The company plans to monitor the market sentiment in the future, instead of committing to an EV.
