Over 8000 Porsche 911s recalled over detaching windshields

The Porsche 911 has been recalled in the United States over windshields that could detach in a crash.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 911s manufactured between 2020 and 2024 are potentially affected. While the exact variants are unknown, 8,101 cars are part of this recall.

As per the NHTSA, the adhesive used to bond the windshields and rear windows to the cars may not be strong enough, which could lead to the glass getting detached during a crash. It is said that the contact surfaces had some residue left at the time of installation at the factory, which can result in a weaker bond.

During an inspection, Porsche found that glass could become partially detached in areas where the bond was too weak. That being said, there have been no reports of the windshields coming off in any accidents so far.
