Over 1000 McLaren GTs recalled due to hood latch failures
Published on
McLaren has issued a recall of its grand tourer, the McLaren GT, following reports of hood latch failures.
According to McLaren, the manual release cable of the latch may be under excessive tension. This might lead to both primary and secondary latches opening inadvertently. If the latches fail while driving, the hood might fly open and strike the windscreen near the hinge points.
1012 cars manufactured between September 12, 2019, and May 19, 2023, have been affected worldwide, including 15 GTs sold in Australia. Latches used in vehicles assembled after this date have a new design.
Dealers will be instructed to replace old latches with the new version on all McLaren GTs affected by this recall.
