Next-gen BMW M2 CS (G87) spied for the first time

The BMW M2 (G87) was unveiled in October last year. Let’s be honest, it’s not the finest design to come out of Munich. Perhaps, the upcoming BMW M2 CS would be a little better.

Unfortunately, the first spy images of the next-gen M2 CS don’t reveal much. The heavily camouflaged prototype was spotted in Germany, indicating that the development of the car is in full swing.

The images do reveal some details of the car, though. The test car appears to have a different front bumper with redesigned vents. But, it still has that oddly-shaped kidney grille. The rear end doesn’t look much different compared to the standard M2. It still has the squared-off bumper with vertical reflectors on either side and quad exhausts. That being said, the camouflage could be hiding a lip spoiler.

Like its predecessor, the new M2 CS is expected to get a tuned engine and a slightly lower kerb weight. Currently the 2-door coupe is powered by a 3.0-liter, twin-turbo 6-cylinder engine that delivers 453 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic transmission.
