Netflix is working on a NASCAR Comedy Series with Kevin James
Kevin James is coming to Netflix with a comedy series set against the backdrop of NASCAR racing.
Netflix is packed with some pretty cool car content these days. While none of them can hold a candle to Amazon Prime’s The Grand Tour, there is still a variety of shows, documentaries, and movies to binge on once you start surfing through the streaming service’s interface.
Jerry Seinfeld’s “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee”, Charlize Theron’s “Hyperdrive”, Fastest Car, Formula 1: Drive to Survive, Car Masters, Rust Valley Restorers – there is something for everyone. And now joining the line-up is a comedy series set against the backdrop of NASCAR with Kevin James leading the cast.
Titled “The Crew”, the multi-camera comedy series is set in a NASCAR garage and James plays the role of the crew chief in the show and the serious job of executive producer outside the sets. The old-school protagonist’s struggle to adapt as his familiar turf evolves quickly with the owner’s millennial daughter taking over the team, will be told with tons of laughter in the Netflix series.
Jeff Lowell who has got writer credits for hits shows like “Two and a Half Men” and “The Ranch” serves as show-runner and writer for “The Crew”. Also part of the creative team is Jeff Sussman whose resume includes “The King of Queens” and “Paul Blart: Mall Cop”.
“The Crew” will debut on Netflix in 2020.
