Mr JWW to drive an Aston Martin Vulcan on Gumball 3000

What’s the craziest car you’ve seen on the Gumball 3000? Well, it isn’t the Team Galag Batmobile. It’s this – the Aston Martin Vulcan.

This year, Mr JWW will be driving an Aston Martin Vulcan on Gumball rally. But, wait a minute. Isn’t the Vulcan a track car? Well, yes. They made just 24 examples of the Vulcan and none of them was road legal, except one. That’s the car that will be featuring on Gumball 3000 this year and we think, it’s the single most craziest car that has ever taken part in the rally.

In preparation for the rally, the world’s only Vulcan is wrapped in an eye-catching livery inspired by the Vulcan Bomber. Under the wrap is carbon fiber bodywork painted in deep maroon shade.

To make it street legal, Aston Martin has had to make quite a few changes. The Michelin tyres are specifically developed for this car and the ride height has gone up as well. The front splitter has had to be tweaked, while the radiators were reworked to keep the engine within operating temperatures even at low speeds or in traffic. The car also has a different steering rack and a revised rear spoiler.

Under the hood sits a 7.0-litre, naturally aspirated V12 engine that develops 820 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque and is mated to a 6-speed sequential transmission.

The 2019 Gumball 3000 will be flagged off from Mykonos, Greece on June 7 and will culminate in Ibiza on June 15.
