Mid-engined Chevrolet Corvette C8 is sold out for 2020
We’re not even into the new year and the Corvette C8 is already sold out in the US for 2020.
The new mid-engine Corvette was supposed to enter production in late 2019. However, a worker’s strike had forced production to be delayed. It has now been pushed back to February 2020. As a result, orders have been piling up and the allocations for the year 2020 are now full.
According to Motor Trend, 40,000 units have been allocated for the United States. The first deliveries are expected to commence in spring 2020. Deliveries of the Corvette Convertible are likely to begin at a later date.
The new Corvette is powered by a mid-mounted 6.2-liter V8 engine that develops 490 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque. The optional Z51 Performance Package bumps the output to 495 hp and 470 lb-ft. The engine is mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. The Convertible also uses the same 6.2-liter V8 engine and transmission combination.
In the US, prices for the Corvette C8 start at $59,995 and the top-spec 3LT costs $71,945. The Corvette C8 Stingray Convertible is priced from $67,495.
