Mercedes-AMG Project One looks surprisingly eccentric in new teaser
Mercedes-AMG will reveal its Project One hypercar on September 12 at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. Mercedes has been giving out information on the car bit by bit, from teasers to interior images to a full scale powertrain model. We know a lot about the powertrain already – the car will be powered by Mercedes’ Formula 1 derived 1.6-liter, turbocharged V6 powering the rear wheels, with electric motors on the front wheels making 322 hp combined.
The teasers though, have mostly been unrevealing, until now. From a picture of the rear end released on social media, we now have some idea of how the car is going to look like. What we can see is that the Project One’s rear end looks surprisingly eccentric. We can clearly see the single circular exhaust outlet joined by dual wastegate outlets below. Three rectangular lights on each side make up the tail light assembly. Also, a large center air intake sits together with what look like NACA ducts; the Formula one derived engine will be needing a lot of air to cool. Surprisingly, the body doesn’t expand too wide away from the greenhouse, which is kind of a industry trend with hypercars.
We can’t wait to finally see it at the Frankfurt Motor Show which starts this week.
