Mercedes SL73 AMG powered by a Pagani Zonda engine for sale
Mercedes-Benz built the R129 SL from 1988 all the way up to 2001. A regular person who wanted big power would go for the top-of-the-line SL 600. However, if that wasn’t enough, AMG built 85 examples of the SL73 AMG with an engine out of a hypercar.
The Mercedes-Benz SL73 AMG was powered by a 7.3-liter V12 naturally aspirated engine that produced 518 hp @ 5500 rpm and 553 lb-ft of torque @ 4000 rpm. This is the same unit that was later used in the Pagani Zonda.
Collecting Cars currently has one of these iconic Mercs on sale. Moreover, it’s not just a regular SL73 AMG either. This particular car was built for the Sultan of Brunei and has merely 1880 miles on the clock.
Unlike most of the cars from his collection, the SL73 is finished in a rather discreet AMG Diamond Black Metallic with Black leather on the interior. It features the AMG body kit that adds a subtle ducktail spoiler at the back, Recaro seats, an AMG steering wheel, suspension, exhaust and 2-piece 17-inch alloy wheels.
The auction for this gorgeous 1996 Mercedes SL73 AMG will open soon.
