Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series has the same Horsepower as a McLaren 720S
Mercedes-AMG has taken the wraps off their newest Black Series model. The AMG GT Black Series the most hardcore of the range and has the same horsepower as a McLaren 720S supercar.
Staying true to its roots, the new Black Series looks striking, to say the least. It has a large grille and a manually adjustable splitter at the front. The front bumper has strategically placed vents and canards designed to keep the front planted to the road surface. The carbon hood also has ducts designed to channel air. The side skirts have been redesigned and there are louvres and extractor vents on the front fenders as well.
At the rear, you have a massive double diffuser that also houses the quad-exhausts, but the most prominent bit is the two-piece rear wing. It’s massive! The upper portion of the wing can be electronically adjusted by 20 degrees.
Mercedes engineers have stiffened the chassis by adding carbon cross tunnel. The transmission mounts and the front sway bar is also made from carbon fiber. The car rides on 19 inches wheels in front and 20 inches at the rear. The wheels are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R MO tires.
At the heart of the Black Series is a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 engine that pumps out 720 hp @ 6700-6900 rpm and 590 lb-ft @ 2000-6000 rpm. The engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. Mercedes claims that it will hit 62 mph 3.2 seconds, while 0-124 mph comes up in under 9 seconds. Top speed is 202 mph.
Mercedes is yet to announce the pricing. So, stay tuned for that.
