McLaren to enter WEC Hypercar Class in 2027

McLaren has announced its intention to join the Hypercar Class of the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2027.

McLaren has put out a teaser featuring a silhouette of a prototype with the message, “We’re back.”

The newly introduced Hypercar Class has caught the attention of several manufacturers. McLaren will be the 16th brand to join the premier class alongside Toyota, Porsche, Ferrari, Aston Martin and Lamborghini.

It won’t be the first time that McLaren has entered the top class of endurance racing. The brand tasted success with the legendary McLaren F1 GTR back in the 1990s.

Incidentally, 2025 also marks the 30th anniversary of that famous win. So, we can expect McLaren to share more updates about its hypercar program at the 2025 Le Mans 24 Hours.
