McLaren Solus GT wins the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed shootout

The McLaren Solus GT made its dynamic debut at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The single-seater track car was also part of the timed shootout and took top honours with a time of 45.34 seconds.

The Solus GT packs a 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 that revs to 10,000 rpm and develops 829 hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a motorsport-derived 7-speed sequential gearbox with straight-cut gears and a carbon fibre clutch.

While it sports a McLaren badge, the Solus GT is unlike any other supercar built by the Woking factory. Based on a carbon fibre monocoque, the Solus GT features an extreme design with a single seat in the centre and a massive wing at the back. The car is said to generate 2645 lbs of downforce, which is more than its overall weight (2205 lbs).
