McLaren P1 successor (P18): Production to be limited to 399 cars?

McLaren is likely to unveil its next-generation hypercar, the P1 successor, in October of this year. The automaker has also started sending invites to prospective customers. One of McLaren’s top clients, @dennis_akoyaking, recently received his special box and shared a video of it on his Instagram.

While going through the contents of the box, Dennis does reveal an interesting bit of information about the P1 successor. According to him, the production of the new flagship hypercar will be limited to 399 units. That’s 24 units more than its predecessor.

While details are scarce, what we know so far is that the P1 successor (codenamed P18) will be based on an all-new carbon fiber monocoque. It will feature all-new 3D-printed suspension and gullwing doors.

The new hypercar is said to use a plug-in hybrid powertrain, featuring a V8 engine paired with electric motors. It’s expected to have a combined output of over 1000 hp.
