McLaren P1 successor (P18) could be revealed by end-2024

According to a 2023 report, McLaren was planning to introduce a new hybrid hypercar around 2026. It seems we won’t have to wait that long.

Latest reports suggest that the McLaren P1 successor is likely to be unveiled by the end of this year. The new model is said to be internally codenamed ‘P18’.

The P18 hypercar is said to use a plug-in hybrid powertrain featuring a V8 engine paired with electric motors. It’s expected to have a combined output of over 1000 hp.

The P1 successor will be based on an all-new carbon fibre monocoque and will even feature 3D-printed suspension components. It is said that the seats will be bolted into the chassis to reduce weight.

Another highlight of the P18 will be its doors. Unlike the P1, which had dihedral doors, its successor is likely to get gullwing doors similar to the Pagani Huayra and Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.
