McLaren GT to redefine the rules of Grand Touring on May 15

The McLaren GT is set to debut on May 15, 2019. The new grand tourer will sit alongside the Sports Series and Super Series models in McLaren’s line up.

McLaren announced its fourth new model under the Track25 business plan at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. Back then, We were shown the first teaser images of the McLaren GT – a prototype under camouflage. Now, the company has released a new teaser video that reveals some more details about the new car.

First up, the McLaren GT appears to have a familiar mid-engined layout with a low front scuttle and a sloping rear deck lid that kicks up to form a spoiler. It has intakes on the sides and on top of the rear fenders. The tail lights are positioned within the extractor vents at the rear. Since, the McLaren GT is supposed to be “less sporty” compared to other cars in McLaren’s portfolio, the designers seem to have given it a few embellishments like the chrome around window line and shiny alloy wheels.

Under the skin, the McLaren GT could be powered by a 4.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 engine. It could also feature McLaren’s Proactive Chassis Control II suspension system. However, these details are yet to confirmed.
