McLaren 765LT recalled in the USA for rear window that could fly off
The McLaren 765LT has been recalled over a rear window that could potentially detach from the car.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the bonding adhesive used to glue the polycarbonate rear window in place could fail. The issue came to light after multiple owners complained about a rattling noise from the back of the cabin.
The source of the rattling noise was found to be the rear window, which, on some cars, was partially separated from the frame, while on others it was completely detached. As per the traffic safety regulator, 163 McLaren 765LTs from the 2021 model year have been affected by this recall.
McLaren has found a solution to this issue. The rear windows on the affected cars will be reattached to the carbon frame using physical fasteners instead of an adhesive. Owners have been advised not to exceed 96 mph with the windows down until their car has been fixed.
