Maserati MCXtrema track car unveiled at Monterey Car Week
Maserati has revealed its all-new track-only supercar, the MCXtrema, at The Quail during the ongoing Monterey Car Week.
The Maserati MCXtrema is based on the Project24 concept that was showcased last year. Only 62 units of this limited-edition track car have been produced.
Maserati CEO Davide Grasso said, “Maserati MCXtrema was created with the aim of offering an incredibly exclusive product that can set a new paradigm for our track cars. The project is dedicated to a selected clientèle who are particularly attentive to distinctive details, ranging from the most refined and innovative design to exceptional performance. MCXtrema embodies the sporting spirit typical of Maserati’s DNA, a declaration of a new pathway for our brand, devoted to superlative manufacturing and able to stand out in the world of luxury engine production with uncompromising performance”.
The MCXtrema was designed by Centro Stile and engineered in-house at Maserati. The car features an extremely aggressive front end featuring a low-slung grille and splitter and a massive spoiler with a shark fin at the back. It has a large diffuser and tail lights inspired by the brand’s ‘Trident’ logo.
Maserati was aiming for an overall dry weight of less than 1250 kg and a power-to-weight ratio of 1.69 kg/hp. The MCXtrema packs 730 hp, but more details are awaited.
