Maserati bids goodbye to V8 engines with Ghibli 334 and Levante V8 Ultima limited editions

Maserati is known to make V8 powered cars from as early as 1959. The 5000 GT has the distinction of being the first V8 from the Trident badge. Till date, the company has sold 100,000 units of V8 cars. Now, as the supplier agreement for the engines comes to end, the Modena-based carmaker has unveiled two new cars to pay a fitting homage to the end of an era.

Maserati Ghibli 334 Ultima and Levante V8 Ultima

Ferrari is the supplier for Maserati V8 engines. It has long been known that the Prancing Horse is going to stop supplying after 2023.

Both the sedan and the SUV models will be showcased later this week at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Only 103 units of each car will be made.

Maserati Ghibli 334 Ultima : More Details

The Ghibli Ultima doesn’t get cosmetic updates. The sedan now is the fastest production sedan, clocking 334 km/h or 208 mph. This makes it just faster than the Bentley Flying Spur Speed. The regular Ghibli Trofeo can go only upto 203 mph. Additionally, the car’s 0-62 mph time has gone down from 4.3 seconds to 3.9 seconds. The performance is thanks to weight rendition and usage of new performance oriented tyres.

Visually, the car gets an exclusive Scià di Persia color with Rubino accents. The Ghibli 334 Ultima comes with 21-inch alloys with dark accents, matching glossy black brake calipers and a carbon fiber trunk lid spoiler. The insides are finished in a Pale Terracotta leather upholstery and Alcantara mixture. One can spot the Trident logo and the 334 badging embroidered in the headrests while the center console houses a 334 plaque as well. An ‘una di 103’ logo is adorned in the same area. This reminds the occupants of the car’s exclusivity.

Levante V8 Ultima : More Details

Both the Ultima cars share the Ferrari-derived twin-turbo 3.8-liter engine for one last time, they are offered in the highest Trofeo trims with a power rating of 572 HP.

Cosmetically, the Levante V8 Ultima is offered in Nero Assoluto and Blu Royale colour shades. The car rides on 22-inch black alloys. Maserati has equipped this SUV with a carbon fiber exterior package as standard. The car also gets painted V8 Ultima logos on the fenders.

On the inside, the Levante comes with Pale Terracotta and black leather seats, with a Maserati badge with V8 Ultima lettering. Like the sedan, there is a ‘una di 103’ logo in the center console as well.
