Limited edition Ferrari F40 homage could be in the works
The Ferrari F40 came out in 1987 as the brand’s flagship. It’s the predecessor to the likes of the F50, Enzo, LaFerrari, and the latest F80. Now, the latest reports suggest that Ferrari might be planning to resurrect the F40 as a modern limited-edition supercar.
According to Top Gear, an homage to the 80s icon could be in the works. It is likely to be part of the Icona Series, which includes the Monza SP1/SP2 and the Daytona SP3.
Now, rumors of an F40-inspired supercar have been going around for a while now. We had first reported about it all the way back in 2020. At the time, it was believed that Maranello was working on a one-off supercar codenamed SP42.
Being massive fans of the brand, we sincerely hope Ferrari builds a modern interpretation of the F40. Perhaps it could use the new twin-turbo V8 from the SF90XX since the original also had forced induction.
