Lamborghini Huracan successor’s engine details revealed; V8 PHEV with 900 hp

The Lamborghini Huracan successor is likely to be a step up from its rival, the Ferrari 296 GTB, especially when it comes to its engine. According to the latest information shared by the brand, the new supercar will be powered by one of the most powerful and high-revving V8 engines ever put in a production car.

The Huracan successor, rumoured to be called Temerario, will use a 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbocharged engine paired with a plug-in hybrid setup. It develops 789 hp and 538 lb-ft of torque and revs to 10,000 rpm, making it one of the highest-revving engines today.

The ICE is paired with an axial-flux electric motor integrated into the 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. It provides an additional 148 hp and 221 lb-ft of torque. So, we can expect the overall output to be around 900 hp.

Now, a 4.0-liter V8 can be found in several other VW Group cars, including high-end Porsches, Audis and Bentleys. However, the one used in the Huracan replacement is said to be been developed in-house at Sant’Agata.

According to the brand’s head of sales and marketing Federico Foschini, the Huracan successor will make its global debut in August.
