Lamborghini

Lamborghini planning Huracan Barchetta, Speedster, Superleggera and GT3 Stradale

After more than fifty years of intense rivalry with Ferrari, it seems Lamborghini finally has a robust plan to beat the long time rival at its own game. CEO Stefano Domenicali, who apparently has also been the head of..wait for it – Ferrari’s racing division has put forth interesting plans for the company’s lineup.

In our last story we covered some exciting news about the Aventador replacement and a final SV version to bid the car adieu. But to beat the prancing horse, what Lamborghini really needs is a Huracan that can take the fight up to Ferrari.

According to Automobilemag, the Huracan will receive a slew of interesting treatments – Barchetta and Speedster versions are coming along, leaving us to wonder what they will look like. Even a Targa variation is planned, along with an SV which used to be reserved only for the bigger V12 sibling. The rumor mill also suggests that a lightweight Huracan Superleggera will compete directly with Ferrari 488 Speciale which is currently in development. An even more performance oriented  Huracan GT3 stradale is also rumored to be in the works.

But the most exciting and almost unbelievable part of the plan is a Huracan ‘Safari’. Yes you read that right, Lamborghini is going to build an off-road version of its 602 hp V10 supercar. The car will come with height adjustable suspension, bigger wheel arches, all terrain body protection panels, all wheel drive and four wheel steering. Woah!

According to the report, it may be able to tackle the Rubicon but Lamborghini claims that the almost go-anywhere Huracan which will be available in both a coupe and roadster form will be unbeatable on Italian C roads where ground clearance and wheel travel are essential.

Kudos to Domenicali!
