Lamborghini Asterion is a 910 hp hybrid GT
Lamborghini is at the Paris Motor Show with a bold new concept. It is a hybrid supercar that goes by the name, Asterion. The badge reads Lamborghini Asterion LPI 910-4 and the car is shaped to look like a mid-engine grand tourer, while keeping true to Lamborghini design philosophy.
Previously, the company had revealed a few teasers of the new supercar that created a lot of buzz in the industry. Rumors of a new hybrid coupe soon began circulating. Now that we have the actual car in front of us, I think there would me mixed feelings about this new Lamborghini. First and foremost, I am not too psyched about the exterior styling. The 5.2-liter V10 that powers it, along with, not one or two, but three electric motors delivers a total output of 910 hp. That’s way more than the Aventador and a powerful Lamborghini like the Asterion must be able to flaunt it.
Sadly, the Asterion does not look like a 910 horsepower supercar. It looks like a normal GT car derived from a Huracan or something. It is bit too toned down in my opinion. That said, the thing packs a lot of punch. The 5.2-liter V10 alone develops 610 horsepower and is the same unit that powers the Huracan. Two electric motors are attached to the front axle while a third one is fixed between the engine and the dual-clutch transmission resulting in a 300 hp boost. This plug-in hybrid supercar has an all-electric range of 31 miles and is claimed to deliver 57 mpg. Top speed is 198 mph and 0-60 mph is over in 3.0 seconds.
