Koenigsegg Jesko hypercar sets new lap record at Laguna Seca

As part of the Monterey Car Week, Koenigsegg organized a track session for its customers at Laguna Seca. A casual track day ended with a celebration as test driver Markus Lundh set a new lap record in a Jesko Attack.

The Koenigsegg Jesko completed a lap of the 2.2 miles circuit in 1 min 24.86 seconds, setting a new lap record for homologated production cars. Interestingly, neither Markus nor the Jesko Attack had ever been to Laguna Seca before this day. Although Markus had driven the track on a simulator, driving it in real life and setting a record is a completely different ball game.

The Jesko Attack is the high downforce version with the large active spoiler at the back. The hypercar is powered by a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that puts out 1280 hp (1600 hp on E85) and 1106 lb-ft of max torque. The engine is hooked to a 9-speed multi-clutch transmission, which Koenigsegg refers to as the Light Speed Transmission or LST.

Koenigsegg also delivered the first US-spec Jesko over the weekend. The car was presented at The Quail before being handed over to the owner.
