Jaguar I-PACE Electric Cars to Race in one-make eTrophy
Published on
Jaguar revealed the new I-PACE electric race car at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show. 20 cars will race in a one-make eTrophy which will be run alongside Formula E during the 2018-19 season. In all, 10 races will be held during Formula E weekends.
The Jaguar I-PACE can be seen as a electric touring car. It is powered by four electric motors – one at each end. The combined output of the setup is 395 hp and the electric motors produce 516 lb-ft of torque. A 90 kWh battery pack powers the electric motors and while there has been word about the range it offers, Jaguar does claim that the I-PACE race car will accelerate from 0-62 mph in around 4 sec. The cars are built at Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) in Warwickshire, UK.
