One-off Porsche supercar spotted at LAX-Pebble Beach-1

News

Is this the one-off 993 Porsche 911 GT1 headed to Pebble Beach?

An interesting and mysterious supercar has been spotted at the Los Angeles airport (LAX), which we suspect, is headed to Pebble Beach. At first glance, it appears to be based on the 993 Porsche 911 GT1 Strassenversion.

Now, there have been rumours that a one-off air-cooled 911 will be showcased at this year’s event. However, little was known about it until recently, when this image popped up on Reddit. It looks like a slightly modified 911 GT1.

Subtle changes have been made to the front end of the car, while the vents on the sides have been redesigned. Instead of the centre-locking wheels, this GT1 is riding on a set of 5-lug alloys. The ‘spoiler delete’ gives the car a clean look as well.

Porsche built 25 road cars for homologation purposes. Two prototypes were produced, that were fully road-legal, and these were equipped with the 993-style headlights, making it an ultra-rare and highly sought-after automobile.

The 911 Strassenversions were powered by a slightly detuned version of the 3.2-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine from the race car. It delivered 536 hp at 7200 rpm and 443 lb-ft of torque at 4,250 rpm.
